Bookie names Dhoni, Raina in spot-fixing scandal

Source : Dunya News
Indian bookie has named Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina in Indian Premiere League (IPL) betting and spot-fixing scam, Dunya News reported.
In a testimony included with probing panel’s report to Indian Supreme Court, a bookie named Autham has named Indian cricketers in the spot-fixing scandal.
During a fake passport investigation, Indian Railways SP G Sampath Kumar reportedly came in touch with bookies and submitted the report to Justice Mukul Mudgal of Indian Supreme Court.
The players are likely to face the heat for their alleged roles in the scams as their names surfaced in the report filed on Monday before the Supreme Court by a committee probing the Indian Premiere League (IPL) betting and spot-fixing scam.
In its report, the three-member committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal, said that former BCCI President I S Bindra had also stated that he knew two former reputed Indian players who were allegedly involved in match fixing.
Justice Mudgal did not give clean chit to anyone but said further investigation needs to be done on spot and match fixing. But the current focus on just betting is raising questions as to whether senior players are being deliberately shielded and a cover up is in place.

Why KP left England Cricket Team

England will enter a new era without one of their greatest-ever batsmen after the ECB decided not to consider Kevin Pietersen for selection for the forthcoming tour of the Caribbean and subsequent World T20. A career that is consisting of  104 Tests and more than 150 limited-overs appearances over nine years, during which time KP became England’s leading run-scorer in international cricket yet became one of the most divisive players in England’s history, now appears to be over, little more than a year after his successful “reintegration” to the team on the tour of India.
The ECB said in a statement that the decision had been unanimous among the England management, adding that “now was the time to start the rebuilding process” after the disappointment of being whitewashed in Australia.

Glenn McGrath to train Indian pacers soon

Former Australia pacer Glenn McGrath may work with the Indian pacers soon, according to a report in the Times of India.
The MRF Pace Academy in Chennai, where McGrath is currently working as director, has submitted a proposal to the BCCI, which if accepted, will help the two bodies work in tandem.
According to the plan, a selected few bowlers working with the Nation Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore will be sent to MRF where they will be trained under the supervision of McGrath.
McGrath, who represented Australia in 124 Tests, 250 ODIs and 2 T20 internationals, termed it as a good chance to work with the young crop of Indian bowlers. “It will be a great opportunity. I would love to work with the young Indian crop,” McGrath told Times of India.
The performance of the Indian bowlers was highly criticised in their recent 4-0 drubbing in the ODIs in New Zealand and, McGrath observed something that they failed to execute against the Kiwis.
“I haven’t seen a single bowler who can bowl six good yorkers…If he can, I am sure the batsmen won’t be able to take him apart that easily,” McGrath said.

Joe Dawes, another Aussie, is currently the bowling coach of Team India.
